Defeating My Victim Mentality: OurDayDream Daily Column

Reference #14

Hello everyone! Welcome to my daily column! I hope that you had an awesome day! My day was busy, which is always good! Although, I found myself learning the same lesson that I gained weeks ago! I am stubborn, it takes many shortcomings before I decide to change, that is after an agh-ha moment. I suppose I picked up many habits from living a life that I believed was out of my control. I mean, I am not going to fix years of acceptance in a day.

Letting Go Of My Victim Mentality

From the outward awareness, you come to the inward; but if you are not aware of the outer, you cannot possibly come to the inner.

J. Krishnamurti

J. Krishnamurti relayed that to find our inner workings we need to spend time watching others. We need to pay attention to the different moments we judge the world negatively and positively. I suppose I wasn’t trying to perform the act today, seemed just reading the passage set the thought into action. I have been rather lazy for days, letting stuff pile up, and putting stuff off for later. Each day I felt the chaos build inside of me. When I came back home from getting my son Jaxyn off the bus I walked right past the pile of dishes, intending to go sit down. I walked only a few steps further and thought about how I was allowing the dishes to have more power than my strength. I stopped what I was doing and marched right up to the dishes and showed them who was boss! While I was working on the dishes, I thought about all the things that I have ever given my power to. My question for you today is, what are you allowing to overpower you in your life? Do you know those annoyances that you just take the sting, or even those incessant voices screaming in your head? You should have. . . What can you do to take your power back? Maybe it is an argument you should walk away from. Or, forgiving someone who hurt you years ago. Or, maybe you are battling your daily chores as I do. Regardless, there are many battles we may fight in a day, where we could have been empowered we were instead defeated.

Today I had a chat with David Zach the lead singer for Remedy Drive! We talked about a lot of things that I think oftentimes go unnoticed. There is a lot of pain in this world that is worthy to be recognized. Although, I do think that it is easy to get consumed by the pain that exists in the world and forget about the works of wonder. I think many, including myself, we get so caught up in the hampster wheel called life that we don’t think about all the people in the world crying for someone to help them. While we are consumed by our living, we could be an answered prayer. This chat is set to be posted on March 13th!
