Reference #30 Better Day

Hello everyone! Welcome to my daily column! I hope that you had an awesome day! My day was pretty great! I hope that you enjoy tonight’s column!

When I Lived My Life On Autopilot

I woke up every morning overwhelmed with demands hitting me in the face. I jumped out of bed with just enough time to rush around for work. Until I arrived at my job I was already exhausted from the mad dash. When I arrived at work, my mind was already spent, so I found myself being called out for insufficiency every direction I turned. When I finally made it home, I couldn’t muster up any energy to be a parent, I had to take a nap! Of course, my nap that turned into a coma, which kept my concluding waking hours a mad dash trying to squeeze all of my tasks into just a couple of hours. I was trying so hard to do and be all things only to feel like I wasn’t good enough to keep up. I slept a lot during that season of life because every waking hour I was in flight or fight mode. When I finally had two days off, I had no motivation to do anything! Hopefully, this doesn’t sound like the story of your life, but if it does you are at the right place!

I could never tell you what to do, but I can tell you that there are a lot of resources out there for you to play with to help design a day that will bring your life more prosperity. Although, I am not going to leave you hanging!

Building My Day

I learned that my morning was the foundation that built the rest of my day! If I wake up chaotic, I am going to feel chaotic, my brain is going to be chaotic, and in turn, my chaotic energy fuels other chaotic people with the right properties to take their mess out on me! For a long time, I thought why do people treat me so awful when I am nice, but also confident? I learned that it is the chaos inside of me that attracts it to me! How do you fix that? Start with your morning foundation.

Get Out Of Your Way

My Morning Routine

  • I jump into my office, my tub.
  • While I am in the tub I read a page of a devotional, It’s A Good Morning Just Because You Love Me. Then I read a section of 4 different books; Simple Abundance a Daybook of Comfort and Joy, Social Media Explained, The Tao of The Now, and How to Find a Job Career and Life You Love.
  • To conclude my morning readings and start my day, I ask God to take me on a journey to a chapter in the Bible and write a short description of what God was telling me about my life.
  • I pray.
  • I do a mediation.
  • I turn on worship music to get my day started!

As I said I don’t expect you to do what I do, but maybe pick a devotional or a motivational book. I like to read so I can underline what touches me, but if you prefer you could listen to a motivational tape while you get ready. Regardless, your morning needs a foundation, if only 30 minutes! This is your opportunity to get creative and design your day with an awesome intro! Self-care is important. I promise you, once you decide to build your foundation and find a day when you have to skip it, you will know that you know how important it is to your life!
